Increase Positive Patriotic Engagement
Patriotic engagement, built around an informed citizenry and civil discourse, is the basis of a healthy society and strong America. We believe that the veteran and military family community is uniquely positioned to “lead by example”.
We build programs to empower them to do that in new and meaningful ways.
Ensuring that our Community and Country is Resilient to Online Threats
Our foreign adversaries and other malicious actors target the veteran and military family with hostile influence operations and propaganda. This is not a new phenomenon, but the immediacy, scope and ease of its dissemination and consumption through digital media present a new set of challenges. We’ve built an ecosystem of partners from across government, tech, academia, and other mission-aligned organizations to launch research-backed initiatives to protect our community and our national security.
Protect our Communities
Veterans and military families hold a revered station in American culture for good reason - we served to protect our country and our system of self-government. Americans recognize the value of our service, especially in the context of an all-volunteer military over the past two decades of conflict. And beyond that, veterans and military families are highly active in community service and serve to strengthen our social fabric.
The strength of our brand not only benefits our community, but also bolsters military recruitment and contributes to readiness. In a time when malicious actors threaten our experiment in self-government, we believe the leadership of the veteran and military family community is an important part of the solution. But because veterans and military families hold sway in American culture, they’re also attractive targets. Even the strongest communities are not perfectly immune. We aim to engage a partner group to develop and launch strategies that build on the strengths of our community, crowd out vulnerabilities on the margins, promote patriotic engagement, and safeguard our community’s valuable reputation.
Represent Our Community in the Conversation
The voice of the silent majority of veterans and military family members who demonstrate patriotism through continued service to and support of their communities is missing from the national conversation. Veterans vote, volunteer and serve in local and national civil service at high rates - significantly higher than their non-veteran peers - that should remind people to trust those systems. We aim to be fact-based, solution-oriented advocates for and on behalf of our community on these issues.

We the Veterans and Military Families believes that the veteran and military family community is uniquely positioned to lead in strengthening our nation, and we are building programs to empower them to do that in new and meaningful ways.
Your donation helps us build patriotic engagement programs, including our flagship program Vet the Vote, which is recruiting members of the veteran and military family community to serve as poll workers in the 2024 elections and beyond. We also convene organizations and leaders to work together on key issues affecting our community.
